Our Mission
The mission of the Avenue T Youth Ministry is to equip teenagers (grades 6-12) and their families to live lives of ministry and service to others, lifting up the name of Jesus Christ and giving Him the glory.

Our Vision
Our vision for youth ministry at Avenue T finds its position at the foot of the Cross. We desire to introduce teenagers to Jesus Christ and His message of good news. Then we want to train those teenagers to turn around and share that message with their friends. It is in this way we, as a church and as a youth ministry can lift up the Cross for the world.
As parents, it is our role to help equip teenagers to live lives of mission and service to those around them. Serving a lost and broken world is close to the heart of God. It is the mission that His Son was given and it is the one we are now given. In a very real sense we are to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus. Where He would go is where we need to go. Who He would love is whom we need to love.

With the love of God in us our youth ministry grows vibrant and full of life. Conversely, with out the love of God our ministry will become stagnant and unfruitful. As long as we seek the desires of God and our teenagers and families are challenged by the call of God on their lives, few things can stop us.

Relevant Bible Classes / Bible Study
The Avenue T Youth Ministry exists to teach teenagers God’s Word. We believe that the Bible has the instructions that enable teenagers to live the greatest lives possible, so we teach God’s Word as authoritative for us today. Your teenager will benefit the most if you help ensure that they always bring their Bible to class. If your teenager does not own a Bible just let Doug know and he will get your teenager a Bible of his or her own.

Taking The Lord’s Supper to Nursing Homes
Each month on the 2nd Sunday, the teens take the Lord’s Supper to our “Classic Christians” in the nursing homes. This is a great time of service for our teens each month. We often will go eat lunch together before going to the different nursing homes.

Devotionals
Once or twice each month we will have a devotional together after evening worship. Often, a family in the congregation hosts these devos. Devos often consist of eating a meal together, and then spending time in praise to God, with a message brought by one of the young men or by the youth minister. This is always a great time of fellowship for the teens. From time to time we will have a family Devo for the teens and their families.

Movie Night
Every Wednesday during the summer, we watch a movie after Bible Classes. This is a great time of fellowship, and an opportunity for our teens to bring their friends. All movies are carefully picked and edited.

Summer Camp
Camp Ida, with our own Tom Moore as director, is from June 21-27. The theme this year will be the New Testament church. We will take the church van and children who are entering 3rd grade through high school seniors who just graduated to this beautiful camp deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas.
Camp Ida also provides the campers with the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities with their new found friends. The camp has a baseball field and equipment for softball and baseball. The campers can also enjoy playing volleyball with their friends on the volleyball court. Some campers choose to shoot a few hoops to enjoy their free time, and others enjoy a friendly game of ping pong. Horseshoes and washer throw are also available for those who enjoy a more relaxed kind of entertainment. Last but not least the newly renovated swimming pool provides a bit of refreshment from the hot sun.
Each year faithful brethren strive to teach young people more about God's word. Classes, devotionals, and evening worship services help bring these young people closer to God. We hope to see you soon at Camp Ida where you will make memories and friends that will last a lifetime.
Applications are available at the church.

Classic Christian Banquet
The youth put on a Banquet for our “Classic Christians” every November. This is a time for our teens to show our senior Christians how much they are appreciated. This activity is a great time of fellowship for both groups, and gives them the opportunity to interact.

Sing For Your Progressive Dinner
The annual Sing For Your Progressive Dinner is a wonderful activity for the Christmas Holidays. It combines caroling & having a different course of a meal at a different location. The teens go to each location for a course of their meal, and sing carols to receive their meal. It is a great time of fun and fellowship for all.

Youth News

Ron Figgins has begun a new Sunday morning study with the youth, entitled,

“To Work the Garden: God’s Plan Concerning Work”. Make sure to attend on Sunday morning at 9 a.m., as you are certain to learn a lot from this study. Along that line, all teens are asked to bring their Bibles each and every Sunday and Wednesday. If you do not have a Bible let us know, and we will make sure you get one!
